1997 - THE ROAD, THE TIME AND THE PAIN [O DROMOS, O CHRONOS KAI O PONOS]
Alkinoos’ first album as a songwriter put him immediately in the new wave of Greek music, that needed to move from the 15-year dominance of singers over composers and lyricists. Songwriters like Orpheas Peridis, Sokratis Malamas and Alkinoos Ioannidis, would produce some of the most important Greek albums of the next decade. Although most media and discography people characterized this album as too “underground” or progressive for a recently established “mainstream” singer, and some even predicted the end of his career, the audience supported it and it soon became gold. Among his fans, it remains his most important one, as it signals a new start for the artist. The poetic, strong and deep lyrics, along with his musical multi-stylism, disclose the search of a deep character, despite trends and norms.
